CHARACTER
Name: Victor King
True Name: Victor King
Canon: OC
Age: Around 2 years
History: An OC, so no wiki, but here's a quick synopsis:

His distant origins were in a Cold War era bunker in Ontario, Canada. It's called the William Lyon Mackenzie King Institute of Paranormal Studies, and it serves as a very secret storage container for anything cursed, magic, or evil enough for the government of Canada to want to look at. Over time, ants crawled in through the ventilation, they were carried in on clothes and in plants, and as ants do, once they were there, they refused to go away. In the storage rooms amongst the artefacts, the ants' society got weird, and by the time they started to show inklings of sapience they were already cursed in like twelve different conflicting ways.

The glue that really turned a tiny supercolony of vaguely self-aware ants into a single very self-aware guy was when some of the workers brought home a video camera. On it were the last recordings of someone living their own personal SCP exploration log. And at the Institute, this wouldn't particularly stand out, except that the colony realised that the guy recording the video was the same one whose body they'd been eating for weeks. They took it as a sign that he was a part of them, and that they were therefore in some important way a Person, and from there it was a short jump into all the philosophical nightmares of conglomerated personhood.

The dude who emerged is pretty sure they held a vote to combine themselves or something? He's not 100% sure, but a vote sounds nice. He chose the name Victor King because it's made of two words he likes.

Powers/Abilities:
- He's a hivemind, one single consciousness occupying thousands of bodies. It makes more sense to think of each ant as a small body part than as an individual creature.
- Some of the artefacts around which he made his home have left him in a state of slight molecular uncertainty, meaning that large numbers of ants will vanish or appear at random, keeping the colony at a vaguely consistent size over time. A bunch of ants that get killed will take a long time to be replaced, though, and if his queens are killed he's a dead ant walking until attrition takes out the rest.
- If he tries really hard, he can -- in the same way that he'd make a bridge or raft -- make something even more specialised, like a wrecking ball or a functional hand. This is especially true when it's funny.
- He can sing in harmony with himself, though it takes some concentration.
- Sometimes he glows in the dark.

Inventory: Some home-grown fungus, and a picture book he was on his way to return to the bunker library.

Job History:
Approx. ???-2020 - Ants (plural)
Responsibilities included, depending on species: foraging and hunting, growing and farming fungus, guarding and farming aphids, guarding nests, falling into bunkers.
Approx. 2020-2022 - Ants (singular)
Responsibilities include several of the above, as well as library pest control, LD50 artefact testing assistance, and occasional mascot duties.

Suppressions: He doesn't have much in the way of suppressed thoughts; the most suppressed desire he really has involves stealing his coworkers' food for the third or fourth time. He's been very sheltered in that respect for his rather short life, and he's still mostly driven by id. Having to learn to hold things in more on the ship will be an Experience.

Greatest Fear: Losing sapience and shared consciousness and going back to being a bunch of bugs. It's hard to love and lose, ya know?

Greatest Desire: To get an A+ in being a person, a thing both reasonable to want and possible to achieve.

Greatest Regret: Stealing April's clearly-labelled lunch out of the office fridge when it was their favourite pad thai and the only thing getting them through the day. He learned a lot very quickly about 1) how letting down someone you like is sad for you both, especially when the someone can be scary, and 2) how boundaries based on words are valid even if nobody puts down communicative pheromones about them.
